The soundstage is wide and holographic! The visualisation is accurate! The sound is very airy and transparent! However, the bottom end lacks that last pulse of viscous sound. These are best connected to a tube amp/preamp or integrated amplifier to integrate the warmth of the tubes into the presentation. The mat improves the musical presentation of the speakers by tightening the bass somewhat, adding more heaviness to musical notes, such as piano notes, and the low end. However, this comes at the expense of a slight reduction in airiness and transparency in the high frequencies and a reduction in soundscape. I think this is a good combination because the 705s have a fair amount of airiness and transparency, but they lack some of the viscous recoil on the low end. I was on the verge of settling for the Sonus Faber Lumina IIs, but was able to afford the 705 S3s after falling in love with them when I came across this deal. To say I am thrilled with this purchase would be an understatement. The sound quality is simply breathtaking. Great shelf speakers!

Thanks to the consultants of the remote.ru, I acquired these ace to replace spectra 2. An exceptional sound, the top are voiced dry without a dimple. The bottom is clear deep.
