Akurate DSM
Akurate DSM follows immediately after the flagship Klimax series and is based on the Akurate DS. If you're interested in more than just listening to music from your home network and Internet radio, there are unbalanced and balanced analog inputs, digital optical and coaxial inputs, and even HDMI, which works with stereo tracks from DVD, Blu-ray, and SACD. Moreover, you can connect a vinyl player with an MM or MS pickup to one of the RCA inputs.
On the front panel of this sleek device and its remote control, you won't find many buttons - most functions are set up over the network using the proprietary Konfig program. To control playback, a special Kazoo app (Linn App) has been developed, which will turn any PC on your network or, more modernly, an iPad/iPhone into a remote control. Kazoo (Linn App) is very visual, it contains all the necessary information.
The Akurate DSM it is very stable. The Akurate DSM works best with WAV files, so if your server is able to decode FLAC to WAV itself, you should use this option - you will get a more free, large-scale and open sound. The vast frequency range with transparent and weighty lows, airy, crumbly treble, smooth, expressive middle - all this will be a real shock for those who know how sparingly, dimly, lifelessly many computer DACs play, not to mention the audio cards built into the PC. Well, if are talking about high-resolution files, then comparison with traditional disk sources is simply inappropriate - you are opening up hitherto unprecedented depths of the phonogram.
