Italian High End loudspeaker manufacturer Sonus Faber has updated its flagship Aida model.
The midrange and tweeter system in the Sonus Faber Aida, located at the rear of the speaker, is designed to make music reproduction as natural as possible and precisely control the dimensionality and perceived size of the soundstage. The user can customize and optimize the Sound Field Shaper system to suit personal tastes and room characteristics. The mid and high frequencies in the Sonus Faber Aida are reproduced by a 28mm silk dome tweeter (tweeter) with DDR Dura (Damped Apex Dome) made with a natural wood rear acoustic labyrinth chamber and an M18XTR- 04 midrange driver with a cellulose cone and neodymium motor system. The TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) is a device commonly used in the world's largest skyscrapers and consists of a suspended weight placed inside the speakers. While vibrating in counter-phase, TMD picks up the underlying vibrations and provides clearer bass and better reproduction of silence.
Most radical among Sonus Faber Aida's new changes is the choice of all-new driver systems, which all feature a neodymium motor system that is characterized by the "Ultra Dynamic Linearity" feature. Stealth UltraFlex Phasoinverter - this patented system significantly reduces THD (total harmonic distortion) and improves bass extension by eliminating the side vibration coming from the air channel inside the phasoinverter channel, allowing for a smaller speaker chamber. And, of course, the Sonus Faber Aida's zero-vibration stand, which decouples the speaker and the plane on which it stands, avoiding side vibration. The springs and elastomers that are placed in the base of the speaker and their parameters are carefully selected to match the weight of the speaker and allow for a more powerful operation of the woofer (subwoofer) and perfect tuning of the entire speaker system.
