Quad Elite Integrated Amplifier Black
The Quad Elite integrated amplifier is an offspring of Quad's 'closest approach to the original sound' philosophy and combines all the virtues possessed by the Elite Pre and Stereo power amplifier in one single chassis. A selection of input and output connections and functions are available in the Quad Elite integrated amplifier complemented by a Quadlink terminal located at the rear of the unit that serves as a communication link and provides balanced signal transmission from the Elite CDS CD player and/or the Elite FM Tuner - an indulgence for audiophiles demanding simplicity in operation.
The Quad Elite integrated amplifier forms a high end heart of any system, and a great deal of work has taken place to enhance its musical transparency beyond that of the series components that precede it. This is achieved by careful component selection and re-tuning of the signal path, whilst maintaining the advanced facilities that are unique to Quad's solid-state range.
This model is a perfect partner for the Quad Elite CDS CD Player and indeed any other music sources including high res or standard audio PC or Mac, your turntable, DVD or Blu Ray player, Sky, and much more.
Individually, each Elite component has been engineered to perform at the top of its class. Combine them to form a complete high-performance music system and the standard they set is higher still. Their smart, understated looks and compact dimensions are both practical and pleasing to the eye, while Quad's proprietary Quad Link and Amp Bus technologies ensure perfect synergy between every Elite component, optimising sound quality and simplifying system connectivity and control.
The Quad Link system bus is used to connect the Elite CDS CD player and Elite FM tuner to the Quad Elite integrated amplifier. It carries the audio signal in fully balanced form, plus system commands enabling all three components to be controlled via a single remote handset. Similarly, Amp Bus delivers balanced audio and control signals between the Quad Elite integrated amplifier and Elite Stereo power amplifier if you choose to add the latter as an upgrade.

The history of Quad is one of technical achievement in the field of sound reproduction. It is a story that began with the Quad 1 amplifier, which brought the benefits of 15 years knowledge and experience in professional audio and industrial products to the task of making the most accurate domestic audio amplifier of its age.A few years later, in 1953, the product which set the standard for amplifiers was the Quad II Power Amplifier, the time of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation and the year in which Mount Everest was finally conquered. This amplifier pioneered the principle of cathode coupling through the output transformer to reduce harmonic distortion to almost negligible levels. Such was its clear superiority that this model remained in production for 18 years. Three years later, in 1956, Quad demonstrated the first true full-range electrostatic loudspeaker. This remarkable product (known later as the ESL 57) used a virtually mass-less plastic film as a moving diaphragm between two charged plates. Compared with moving coil loudspeakers, the ESL 57 was free of unwanted colourations and distortions. This landmark product remained in production, virtually unchanged, for 28 years.
