EVO 12 AS Black
The EVO AS uses an internally damped s-shaped aluminum armtube with a universal bayonet-style headshell. The s-shaped tonearm is not only an eye-catcher on any turntable, it also brings technical advantages. The geometry benefits from less groove-angle distortion and delivers superb tracking. For cartridge enthusiasts, the user-replaceable headshell allows for the simplest cartridge swapping available. The armtube is fixed by a single screw that allows for easy azimuth adjustment. The inner wiring is flexible, high-purity copper- a great conductor for the low-level phono signal. Each lead wire is fitted with a gold-plated cartridge connector clip.
The tonearm pivots on an inverted cardanic ABEC 7 quality bearing with 4 stainless steel tips. This bearing type is very stable and low-friction, guaranteeing clean tracking. This results in a detailed and open soundstage where all the micro-information from the record groove is preserved. The bearing is seated in a full aluminum housing which provides the necessary stability. The massive outer gimbal ring is open to avoid bell-mode resonance. Due to the tonearm design, the bearing is maintenance-free but very easy to adjust if needed.
Two counterweights are supplied with each tonearm for wide cartridge compatibility out of the box. The counterweights themselves are more than meets the eye. They are TPE-damped, which measurably assists in resonance control. Always use the counterweight that can be set closest to pivot point with your desired tracking force applied. This ensures maximum stability and keeps tonearm inertia as low as possible.
The tonearm height can be continuously adjusted by loosening & retightening the two grub screws in the armboard. This allows the arm to be set perfectly according your VTA requirements. Experimenting with the VTA & azimuth is crucial in extracting every last bit of performance from your phono cartridges.
