McIntosh Floorstanding Speaker XRT1.1K (each)

Following in the footsteps of the larger XRT2.1K is the equally impressive but more affordable XRT1.1K. With 1200 watts of power, the XRT1.1K full-range speaker system is exceptional in its performance. With a more user-friendly size that is 14" (35 cm) shorter and 173 lbs (78 kg) lighter than the XRT2.1K, the XRT1.1K can comfortably fit into a wider range of home environments. Although not as large as the XRT2.1K, the XRT1.1K is still an outstanding loudspeaker system that creates a powerful sound experience and sonic performance that can easily fill a room with astonishing musicality.

The XRT1.1K ported 4-way loudspeaker utilizes a line array design to produce an even and wide sound field that creates exceptional stereo imaging in virtually all listening positions. Thanks to the line array design, listeners closer to the XRT1.1K will not be overwhelmed by extremely high volume because they will be on the axis of only a portion of the speakers; listeners farther away will be on the axis of most of the speakers and will be able to easily hear the music without significantly reducing sound level and quality.

The XRT1.1K utilizes a total of 70 individual drivers consisting of (4) 6.5-inch woofers, (2) 6.5-inch bass midrange drivers, (24) 2-inch upper midrange drivers, and (40) ¾-inch tweeters. The woofers and midrange drivers first developed for the XRT2.1K have been incorporated into the XRT1.1K.

They are housed in a large bass enclosure located behind the line array. Their diaphragms are very stiff yet lightweight, and the long-throw design provides terrific bass extension. In front of the bass cabinet is the line array, which houses the midrange and tweeter drivers, also pioneered for the XRT2.1K.

Using low-loss capacitors and inductors with high current capacitance, the crossover network is designed to provide a uniform frequency response throughout the audible range. The type of inductor used in each section of the network has been specifically selected to ensure high linearity even at high power levels. This avoids distortion of the music at any frequency. The network also utilizes PTC type self resetting high current fuses to provide an additional degree of protection for the speakers.

Like the XRT2.1K, the XRT1.1K looks as spectacular as it sounds. The bass cabinet is coated with 7 coats of glossy piano black lacquer and has touches of brushed and black aluminum. The line array has a hint of the classic McIntosh front panel with a black center section and silver trim. It is suspended in front of the bass cabinet with steel spiders inspired by modern skyscraper construction; they are topped with magnetic covers that mimic McIntosh control knobs. The speaker grilles are made of black knit fabric with a glossy finish; if you prefer the speakers to be visible, the grilles are easily removed with magnetic mounts. The base is made of machined aluminum and glass. It features 4 adjustable feet that ensure that the speaker makes perfect contact with the floor, eliminating a possible source of distortion and vibration.

The speaker cables are securely attached with Solid Cinch gold-plated connection posts that prevent them from disconnecting. Separate pairs of connection pins are provided for mid/high, bass and subwoofer frequencies, allowing for a three-way speaker connection if desired. The McIntosh logo on the base can be illuminated with our Power Control technology used in amplifiers, preamplifiers, integrated amplifiers and other products.
