The B&W XT8 is a true 3-way speaker, with an aluminum dome tweeter with a Nautilus load tube, an FST midrange with a woven Kevlar cone, and two bass jackets with paper-Kevlar cones. Bass drivers more than meet the demands of low-frequency range and power, giving the XT8 a sense of scale and dynamics. As with the rest of the XT Series, the cabinet is made from a single, continuous piece of extruded aluminum, creating a remarkably rigid and stable shell that minimizes box-like coloration.
The B&W XT8 tweeter is mounted on top of the cabinet, which provides a wider radiation pattern, stable sound image, and improved phase consistency with the midrange. The pristine purity of the tweeter signal is maintained thanks to the simplest first-order crossover, which uses only one component, and that is manually selected after repeated listening.
