Bang & Olufsen has revived its iconic Beosystem 9000c, blending retro flair with modern technological advancements in a select edition release. This exquisite audio setup, retailing at $55,000, combines the beloved Beosound 9000 CD player from the 1990s with the advanced Beolab 28 wireless speakers, creating a fusion of past and present.
Recreated Classics Initiative
Part of the «Recreated Classics» initiative, the Beosystem 9000c reflects Bang & Olufsen’s dedication to reimagining and revitalizing vintage models with a contemporary twist. The Beosound 9000, first introduced in 1996, gained fame for its six-CD changer and its unique design that visually enriched the music listening experience.
The design, a brainchild of industrial specialist David Lewis, prioritized longevity, user engagement, and visual appeal, aligning perfectly with Bang & Olufsen’s ethos of creating durable and appealing products.
Expert Restoration and Modern Integration
The limited series has been expertly reconditioned at Bang & Olufsen’s original manufacturing site in Struer, Denmark. A team of specialists, including some from the original Beosound 9000 project, meticulously restored 200 units, incorporating them with the sleek Beolab 28 speakers. These speakers are distinguished by their Natural Aluminium lamellas set against a Cosmic Black aluminum base, offering depth and modern aesthetic alongside superior sound quality.
A Fusion of Art and Technology
The newly reintroduced Beosystem 9000c transcends being merely an audio system; it is an interactive piece of art. Its automated glass cover and the arrangement of CDs enhance physical interaction with the system, complemented by state-of-the-art acoustic capabilities and a broad range of connectivity options such as Airplay 2, Chromecast, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Additionally, the system is equipped with the Beoremote One, enabling detailed control over the setup. The speakers themselves are designed with user-friendly touch interfaces that simplify navigation and functionality.
The Beosystem 9000c is accessible to only 200 enthusiasts, blending nostalgic elements with cutting-edge design and functionality. This endeavor not only underscores Bang & Olufsen's commitment to sustainable, enduring products but also highlights the ongoing revival of physical media in an increasingly digital era.
