The Parasound A 23+ power amplifier is a more powerful version of the previous A 23 model. In A23+ now installed toroidal transformer for 1.1 kVA, the total capacitance of capacitors in the filter has increased to 54 400 µF. This allows the new amplifier to deliver up to 500 watts into an 8 ohm load in bridge mode. Connection to the preamplifier is possible via conventional RCA and balanced XLR. The weight of the amplifier is 12.2 kilograms.
The A 23+ power amplifier is built according to the proprietary concept of Direct Coupled, which was established by the developers back in the eighties. The signal path should be extremely short and free of pass capacitors and inductance coils. Other manufacturers use capacitors and inductance coils to filter out potentially dangerous components and stabilize the amplifier. In Parasound, special circuitry monitors the input signal state without direct intervention. Automatics adjust the operating mode or shut down the amplifier in the event of an abnormal situation.
The input stage of the A 23+ amplifier is based on JFET transistors, while the driver stage is based on MOSFET transistors matched in pairs. The transistors are field-effect transistors with high speed and reduced noise. Twelve pieces of traditional bipolar transistors with a maximum operating frequency of 60 MHz and a maximum current of 15 A work at the output. This provides a solid power and bandwidth margin. As a result, the distortion level in the operating range of loads and frequencies is reduced. Therefore, the upper limit of the frequency range reaches the 100 kHz mark.
