Revolutionizing Sound: MoFi Electronics Launches SourcePoint 888 with Groundbreaking Bass Technology

MoFi Electronics unveils a new audiophile coup, the SourcePoint 888 floorstanding loudspeaker. Designed by the industry luminary Andrew Jones, this speaker builds upon the legacy of the SourcePoint 8 with a distinct advantage. It incorporates a pair of strategically placed 8-inch woofers specifically engineered to tackle low-end frequencies below 130 Hz. This frees the ingenious coaxially-mounted midrange driver, allowing it to concentrate on delivering unparalleled midrange clarity.

The addition of these woofers redefines the speaker's bass response, extending it down to a subterranean 32 Hz. This not only deepens the bass but also fosters a remarkable improvement in the overall clarity of both the bass and midrange registers. The woofers themselves are a marvel of engineering, featuring dual opposing neodymium magnets in a configuration that utilizes a short coil within a long magnetic gap. This configuration guarantees a uniform magnetic field, leading to precise and controlled movement of the cone.

The SourcePoint 888 boasts a sophisticated three-way design housed within a rear-ported floorstanding cabinet. It incorporates a meticulously crafted crossover system engineered with specific frequencies and slopes in mind. This design ensures seamless integration between the drivers, minimizing audio anomalies and delivering a smooth response regardless of your listening position. Each driver resides within its own isolated chamber within the cabinet, a design choice that enhances cabinet stiffness and drastically reduces resonances.

Technical specifications maintain the same level of detail: a nominal impedance of 6 Ohms, a minimum impedance of 4.5 Ohms, and a sensitivity of 87dB. The speaker can handle up to 200 W of power input, ensuring it can accommodate a wide range of audio dynamics with ease.

Slated for release in Q2 of 2024, the SourcePoint 888 carries a price tag of $4,999 per pair. It will be available in two finish options: a sleek satin black painted baffle paired with your choice of either satin real wood walnut or a sophisticated black ash veneer. Andrew Jones' vision for the SourcePoint 888 is clear: to transcend the achievements of its predecessors by pushing the boundaries of both sonic performance and technological innovation.
